It was some years ago that Mr.W.K.Wijeweera thought of being a shop owner. He ventured out into the textile trade that caught his eye.He got lucky when he was able to open his shop “Fashion Side “in the heart of Matara town in the year of colonial era 1923, right opposite the palatial looking Broadway Cinema Which gave the environment a crowd catching look. The shop, in a short period of time, become famous and a household name that made the southerners flock, to purchase textiles and ready-made garments.
Mr. Wijeweera’s patience, integrity and genialities, created the goodwill that was
bestowed upon him by his clientele.
In the year of 1958, slowly but surely he set out to establish his target. Private company which he named “Wijeweera Apparels”. His wife Mrs. Chandrawathie who happened to be an excellent cutter in the textile trade and his good luck charm, turned into a pillar of strength on his venture, and that showed milestone after milestone of their success.They manufactured a variety of ready-made Gents trousers and Ladies’ blouses.
The Wijeweera duo kept moving forward relentlessly for technical innovations in their industry and came up with the conception of turning out “Brief Super” which was a Gent’s underwear. This was made with 100% knitted cotton-airtex fabric. As they moved along with it, the Brief Super “become an all-time super” seller. They moved on to sewing blouses which was in vogue then and still is.
In the year of 1980 “Wear-Well” become the brand name of their inner wear products “Rocky”for Gents and “Fiona” for Ladies. Their son, Ananda a product of Rahula Collage Matara and a graduate from the Textile Training Service Center who specialized in knitting shouldered the company on its way to progress.
In 2002 he started Wear-Well International Pvt Ltd, adding on an island wide distribution network utilizing his own fleet of vehicles and sales reps. He is currently the Managing Director of both companies Wijeweera Apparels Pvt Ltd and Wear Well international Pvt Ltd.
The company has a three sector knitting Plant, Sewing Plant and a Distribution Company.
The marketing division is run smoothly by the sales staff. Mr. Ananda Wijeweera believes in doing things his own way. He prefers manufacturing his fabric requirements. He imports the best quality and of the highest standard of cotton yarn from the richest cotton picking fields in India and Pakistan and does his manufacturing the knitting plant is fully equipped with the most modern machinery from Germany. The company is running with a work force of over one hundred employees.

- 2014 – Contributed Rs. 400,000 Inner wears to the tsunami projects in Sri Lanka and provided financial aid for tsunami victims fund.
- 2017/2018 –Donated inner wear for the flood victims to avoid compromises in hygiene and health as well as comfort.

- Organizing beach cleanup projects and it is mainly focused the save the environment and implement good habit for every Sri Lankans.
